Bandwidth and Usage Abuse

It has started - we have a few users who use the network for bulk downloading.
Until recently the network was immune from excessive data down loads but now it is getting to a point that it starts to hurt the hip pocket. Someone some where has to pay for the pipe into the internet.
We will monitor the usage over the next month, if it is still excessive we will consider shaping access for those individuals. It will be set at 64k for those who constantly download. It will not be shaped for any services on the network, just internet. If you want to do peer to peer downloads then pay for it yourself.

This is a shame;
It sounds like its time to roll out MAC address filtering, where the system "shapes" the particular MAC address in order to prevent this from happening.
Or depending on the amount of abuse, block the MAC address from the access points altogether! This is NOT the intention of the system, so don't tolerate it!

YEah that really sucks, fair is fair. is there the ability to shape anyway? such as Mcdonalds to aka 30mb fullspeed then you are shaped, perhaps that could reset over night ?
