New WifiDog Server
Posted October 14th, 2008 by Paul Templeton
We are going to migrate over to a new server with the latest version of the WifiDog Captive Portal. This will affect all users of this network. We have chosen to start a fresh. That means no existing data will be migrated onto the new system.
How Does This Affect You
It means you will have to create a new account (you can use the same account name if you choose). At this point we will not be using user profiles as most users didn’t use them.

Why Are We Doing This
The WifiDog server collects a heap of data in relation to usage. Ie time spent on the network, how much data up loaded/down loaded. This information is redundant for us as we have a policy for not keeping any information on the community. Because of this we find it to time consuming to write scripts to extract/export the user logon data from everything else. We thought it would be easier to start a new.

When Will This Happen
This will happen (if all goes well with the new servers) within the next two weeks. If you have any questions or problems with this please contact us via the contact form.
