Not just down, gone!

nananananananananananaThe Coffswifi auth server which manages all the logins for the wireless hotspots around town has mysteriously disappeared. I have tried to contact Paul but he appears to have been kidnapped by aliens... hmm - I sense a conspiracy. Until he gets returned to this planet/dimension coffswifi is, effectively dead... or is it

I stayed up last night and rebuilt my own authentication server at http://home.tregeagle.com/wd/
It should be working but I am missing something because the wifidog gateway is not talking to it. I'll have another go at it tonight and hopefully will have a working replacement up and running for all to use.
I think I need to open up a port but couldn't see anything obvious in the wifidog.conf file. Any geniuses who'd like to offer their opinions or expertise please do so in the comments.

Here's to my bleeding eyeballs.

Part of the network up

Wifidog back online and there are two hotspots up - the others will need a reboot or something.

The Twilight Zone

Have moved to a new house and untill last night no internet. It still doesn't work well as the line is very noisy. But that aside, CEInternet has pulled the plug due to the account not being paid. 15 days over due this is very heavy handed tactics. It will now cost a reconection fee. Most ISP's allow at lest a month before pulling plug.

Why did this happen - notification sent via email - you have no have email access then you have no notification hence no bills being paid.

The account has been pai so it is a time thingy.

Conclusion - I'll look at moving all 5 accounts some where else.

hooray

So glad the aliens returned you safely to Earth. Welcome back.
