General Information
Three Years and we are still here.
Posted July 22nd, 2009 by Paul TempletonIt all started three years ago. Its being very slow going but at the same time it hasn't failed. The first activity started on 03/02/2006 with the first server being built. Since then we have move forward then backward and sometimes of the air completly. We will continue to persist as we need to keep our freedom to access the net.
We now have over 600 valid users and twice as many non valid (Logged onto the network but didn't validate there account). This show us that our efforts are not in vain. Thanx for supporting this free network.
Happy New Year 2009
Posted January 6th, 2009 by Paul TempletonHappy new year everyone. The network was up for the holidays with no known outages. So we hope you had a good time.
This year we will try to achieve all the things that were not done last year and maybe more. Its really time to get a meeting going so we need sugeations for where and when.
Once again Happy New Year.
Make that 114 Days with no Internet
Posted August 21st, 2008 by Paul TempletonIt looks like another week without the net down at the Jetty. We were unable to gain access to the roof cavity to lay cable. Will try agian next week. So hold off on the coffee.
*SIGH*
101 Days With No Access To The Net
Posted August 15th, 2008 by Paul TempletonThats how long its been down at tyhe jetty. Well we are happy to announce that new calbes will be layed in the Jetty Shopping centre this comming Thursday (21/08/08). This means will have the access point up and running this Friday.
So grab your notebook and head down to the Jetty Strip for a coffee.
The Jetty Access Point
Posted May 5th, 2008 by Paul TempletonMany are finding the Jetty Village access point spends more time off line than on. There are several factors that contribute to this issue. The first is the ISP that provides Internet access to this hotspot is not reliable. It’s up and down like a yoyo. This is compounded by the lack off access to the ISP technology as it resides on private premises, which isn't always open for our access. When there is an opportunity to gain access, we might not have the time to run down and reboot.
Bandwidth and Usage Abuse Again
Posted April 1st, 2008 by Paul TempletonThere back...Please don't use the network just for free downloads as it will alternately wreck it for all. There is nothing wrong with occasional download but to use the network day in day out for downloading mp3's and movies cost money. The one thing that we do not want is to shape the bandwidth and/or put quoters on each user, you never know when you need to get access to something important and need to download a big file fast. So once again respect the service and there will be no constraints.

Bandwidth and Usage Abuse
Posted October 27th, 2007 by Paul TempletonIt has started - we have a few users who use the network for bulk downloading.
Until recently the network was immune from excessive data down loads but now it is getting to a point that it starts to hurt the hip pocket. Someone some where has to pay for the pipe into the internet.
Server Move
Posted June 24th, 2007 by Paul TempletonThe server wifidog.coffswifi.net was moved this weekend to its new home in the riser of Creek Tower. It will remain there until we can can secure the old office on the 8th floor.
