C'est la vie
Posted July 13th, 2008 by rubenIn case you are wondering where the wifidog login page has gone for your node...
I am afraid there is no good news at the moment. Some funky ISP maintenance has knocked the Auth server offline and Paul is away for a couple of weeks. In the meantime I have taken my network off the Coffswifi network so Sawtell Beach is now back up and running.
Everyone else, I suggest you take a walk on the beach and enjoy the sunshine before it starts to rain again!

Who stole the ADSL modem?
Posted June 16th, 2008 by Paul TempletonYes you heard it right. Someone at 8pm today (16/06/08) stole the ADSL modem out of the riser at Creek Tower. This brought the whole network down for 4 hours.
The modem was ripped out damaging cables. We had a spare but it is old and it took a couple of hours to configure. Will keep you posted...as we belive the people who took the modem live in the building.
Access Point Drop outs
Posted June 5th, 2008 by Paul TempletonThere has been times when access points drop off the network for many hours then reconnect without any intervention. We have found out that it is a DNS problem with the pointer to wifidog.coffswifi.net server. It has a dynamic address and used no-ip.com. So every time a new address was allocated some access points would drop off until their providers DSN servers where updated. It now has been fix - we have a static ip now so there should be less dropouts.
Website Down
Posted May 26th, 2008 by Paul TempletonThis website was down for a day(or so) due to a DNS problem. It happened when the DNS dropped the entry coffswifi.net. The entry for www.coffswifi.net was pointing to coffswifi.net. Still don't know why it has droped the entry but we have fixed the problem (not solved though)
PS we are going to lay some new cables down at the Jetty Village Shopping Centre so we hope to have the access point up and running in the near future.
Fridays Outage
Posted April 19th, 2008 by Paul TempletonThe whole network went down some time on Friday the 18th. The problem was fixed with a router reboot. We are still not sure why but stuff happens. Also the access point at creek town had a problem with the firewall rules - it was letting everything through without authentication. All is fixed now.
Validation Failed
Posted January 23rd, 2008 by Paul TempletonSome new users haven't recieved a validation email as the relaying mail sever has been rejecting mail from wifidog.coffswifi.net. It has now been fixed - the problem was caused by a change by our sevice provider. They have changed carrier and in the process their mail server name...from mail... to smtp...
Merry Christmas and the Mail Server Died
Posted December 26th, 2007 by Paul TempletonThe mail server died on Christmas Eve - still not sure why, just no power - will have it up and running again today (Boxing Day) It only affects the contact us page from this web site. From the team here, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Network Down
Posted December 2nd, 2007 by Paul TempletonThe network was down for a few hours on Monday morning the 26th of November as there was a fault in Telstra's exchange that affected about 200 ADSL connections. Of course this affected the WiFidog authentication server bring down the whole network.
Its time to get the second authentication server up and running - will reduce the amount of down time in the future.
